Phil Hughley – is a Dove Award nominated guitarist, writer and producer who has worked with artists such as Tye Tribbett, Keb Mo & Taj Mahal, the McCrary Sisters and many more. Growing up in Cleveland, OH in a very musical family Phil began playing the drums at the age of 3. But after hearing “Tears in Heaven” by Eric Clapton, Phil knew he would play guitar the rest of his life. Taking an off road from a career in music, he attended his first 2.5 years of college as a cadet at the United States Military Academy West Point. Out during summer training Phil had the epiphany that he should dedicate his life to making music and left the academy that subsequent winter. After moving to Nashville in 2007 to be a touring and session guitarist he was able to record, write, produce and tour with many notable artists in many different genres. But after years of urging from many industry professionals, Phil began exploring the idea of being an artist. After years of tinkering and breaking lots of eggs to a good omelette, Phil has formed a 4-piece vintage funk rock band called Gtar Phil & The Chank. “I’ve finally found a group sound and vehicle to express the thoughts, energy and creative ideas that I’ve been holding on to since for like ever”, intimates Hughley who is the guitarist and lead singer of the new outfit. “Crowd Music is giving me the opportunity to share this stuff and I don’t feel the pressure of having to conform, which i think will actually allow more people to enjoy my music.”
